Mark your calendars if they don’t Earth Day lands on Wednesday, April 22 this year.
Is Earth Day a Big Deal for Cloth Diaper Shopping?
Yup. Don’t get me wrong, Black Friday is the best sale day for cloth diapers. That said, retailers know that not every pregnancy includes November, so they offer some pretty darn good sales on Earth Day to balance that out, and of course to celebrate one the huge environmental benefit that cloth diapers provide.
If you want/need to get your diapers before December, and you have the budget, Earth Day is THE day to build your cloth diaper stash!
What Can I Expect?
The sales are always a bit different every year, but the trend in all the years passed since has been for most retailers to offer anywhere from 10-40% off most items, and then they often throw in some “freebies” when you spend over a certain amount. So, for example, they might give you a reusable straw, or a wet bag if you spend $X and a free diaper if you spend $XX (this is just an example to show you how it normally works, the freebies can be awesome some years, and just good others… we’ll all just have to wait and see what they are).
Most of the time, the discount on the diaper brands you really really want (think Thirsties and AppleCheeks) is about 10-20%, but the discounts on diaper packages, accessories, and sale items, are often awesome!
When Will the Sales Be Announced?
Unfortunately, Earth Day sale info is kept quiet until just before the event in most cases. Retailers don’t want people to not buy anything for the month leading up to it just because they know the thing they want will be on sale. After all most of these businesses are run by mompreneurs, so a lag in sales could mean cutbacks in the home.
With that said, I am busy making sure Cloth Diapers for Beginners is in the loop and will get the scoop on all the Earth Day deals as soon as they are available. When they are, I will post them right here, so bookmark this page, pin it, or join the Facebook group where I’ll post links. That way you can come back a little sooner to the day to check what’s happening.
I can’t wait, can you?
